Panteon Rococo

Ska is a combination of many forms of music including Rock, Calypso, Mento, R&B, and Jazz. Panteon Rococo is a ska band from Mexico City, Mexico and they are popular in Mexico where they have sold thousands of records. Although not as well-known in America, Panteon Rococo has toured Europe extensively. They have made a presence not only in Mexico and North America but also in Central America, South America and across Europe.

Ska punk is a combination of ska music and punk rock music. Panteon Rococo combines punk with their ska blend of rock, mariachi, salsa, reggae and other genres to create a unique and energetic sound, and are considered a Latin Ska band. They emerged under the spirit of Peace, Dance, and Resistance and were launched in 1995, and have been active for over twenty years.

This is a band that is politically active and politically outspoken. For example, they support Zapatista Army of National Liberation or EZLN. EZLN is a left-wing resistance movement that speaks out against the Mexican state with a focus on the Chiapas conflict. However, they also produce love songs that are not political. They are a Latin Ska band known for their ties to the Mexican music scene as well as their relationships to left-wing resistance groups and were, in fact, started as a result of political uprising. In 1994, the Zapatista uprising in Mexico was in full-force. It was a rebellion movement, organized by the Zapatista Army of National Liberation. The rebellion was formed as a protest against the NAFTA agreement and the cancellation of Mexico’s Article 27 of their constitution which protected the sale or privatization of land held by Mexican farmers. Panteon Rococo was outraged at the Mexican government’s treatment of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation and created a band to express their outrage. Soon after making a name for themselves at various venues in Mexico playing to fans who shared their anger, they were signed to Pepe Lobo Records and were later signed to BMG Mexico.

Band Members

Panteon Rococo consist of nine band members. They include on vocals – Dr. Shenka, on bass ” Dario Espinosa, on drums – Hiram Paniagua, on guitar – Leonel Rosales, also on guitar ” Gorri, on the keyboard – Felipe Bustamante, on trombone – Paco Barajas, on saxophone ” Missael, and on percussion ” Tanis.

Panteon Rococo Songs

The band has been recording music for sale since 1997 with their first album Toloache pa’ mi Negra. Their latest album, recorded in 2016 is XX Años: En Vivo. The band has produced records both traditionally and independently. They have been associated with BMG-Sony, but they also created their own independent label in 2010. Their second album A la Izquierda de la Tierra became a best-selling independent album.

When it comes to being a band in Mexico, Panteon Rococo is well-known and has created big audiences at large venues. They have also participated in a number of national and international festivals where they have managed to fill large venues. At the Arena Ciudad México, an indoor area in Mexico City that was opened in 2012 and that cost $300 million to build, the band had approximately 20 thousand people in attendance for one of their concerts. At The Palace of Sports, a sports-related complex in Kiev, Ukraine, the group drew in approximately 25,000 people. They have played at many well-known festivals including Hurricane, Area 4, Summer Jan, Fusion Fest, Rock for Churchill Rock for People, Quito Fest, Vive Latino, and many others. In the year 2000, they played with Manu Chao, a French-born Spanish musician with a ska sound. There were approximately 150,000 people who watched Manu Chao and the band perform in the Capital Square.
